Children‘s Assessment Fees
Cognitive Psychology Assessment Cost: €500
(for children over 6 years old)
This assessment gives information about a child’s general intellectual ability and specific information about their areas of relative strength and weakness. Cognitive skills assessed include verbal and non-verbal skills, memory and processing speed. This assessment is appropriate to help determine the answer to questions such as:
- Is my child exhibiting any particular cognitive or learning difficulties?
- Does my child have difficulties with memory?
- Does my child have processing difficulties?
- Is my child gifted?
- Does my child have specific language impairment (SLI)?
(In this case this assessment would follow a Speech & Language Assessment)
The process is as follows:
- Initial Case History Consultation with parents / guardians (takes approx. 1 hour)
- Direct assessment session with child (takes 1-2 hours)
- Teacher or pre-school questionnaire
- Telephone consultation with teacher or pre-school teacher (4a. Occasionally, a school or home observation may be required)
- Analysis and report
- Feedback session with parents
Children‘s Assessment Fees
Psycho – Educational (Cognitive + Attainment) Assessment Cost: €650
(for children over 6 years old)
This assessment involves an initial Cognitive Psychology Assessment (as described above) and then a further Test of Attainment to determine whether the child is performing at an academic level expected for their general intellectual ability. It is appropriate to investigate whether the child has a specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia or dyscalculia.
The assessment includes testing of cognitive abilities as well as literacy skills (and sometimes numeracy skills if maths difficulties are reported) and the process is as follows:
- Initial Case History Consultation with parents / guardians
- Direct assessment session(s) with child (testing of cognitive abilities and literacy skills as well as numeracy skills if maths difficulties are reported)
- Teacher questionnaire
- Telephone consultation with teacher
- Analysis and report
- Feedback session with parents
Children‘s Assessment Fees
Clinical Psychology Assessment €700
(for children over 6 years old)
This assessment is appropriate if the main concerns relate to the child’s behaviour or emotional well-being. It investigates issues such as ADD, ADHD and anxiety.
It could also identify whether or not the child is at risk for meeting a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and whether a full ASD assessment should be undertaken.
The process is as follows:
- Initial Case History Consultation with parents / guardians
- Observation of the child in school
- Consultation with teacher
- 1-2 Direct assessment session(s) with child
- Analysis and report
- Feedback session with parents
Children‘s Assessment Fees
Therapy Sessions €100 per hour
(for children over 6 years old)
Where appropriate, clinical interventions may be provided following Clinical / ASD Psychology Assessment, for example:
- A Behaviour Support Plan
- Parenting Skills Coaching
- One-to-one or family counselling
Adult Assessment Fees
Adult Assessment Service €650
This assessment is appropriate for adults who may have concerns around issues such as returning to university or changing jobs, and involves a full literacy assessment.
The process is as follows:
- Case history and assessment session (2.5-3 hours)
- Analysis and report
- Feedback session
Discounts & Refunds
THERAPY FEES FOR CHILDREN ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
To avail of this you will need to get a MED 1 FORM and retain all receipts.
IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO KEEP ALL YOUR RECEIPTS. COPIES OF RECEIPTS INCUR A €10 ADMINISTRATION CHARGE, PAYABLE IN ADVANCE.
The tax office also requires a medical letter of referral (GP or Consultant).
Booking Appointments
Due to the demand for appointments we advise that, following assessment, if you wish to be guaranteed consecutive/weekly appointments:
- You block book a series of appointments.
- If you require further ongoing appointments book a further block at least one month before your block of appointments ends.
- If you decide that you do not require the appointments they can be easily cancelled once 48 hour notice is given, but at least you will have the option of having the appointments available if required.
Cancellation
- Cancellation 2 working days prior to appointment: No charge
- Cancellation 1 working day prior to appointment: 50% of fee due
- Cancellation on the day: 100% of fee due
This is because, without sufficient notice, another client cannot be notified in sufficient time to take the session time which you have booked.
