Multidisciplinary Team Assessment for ASD
ARC is delighted to work with Dublin Psychology Centre to offer multi-disciplinary ASD diagnostic assessments and post-diagnostic therapies and interventions for children and young people with autism spectrum disorder.
Our autism diagnostics use the internationally recognised ‘gold standard’ ADI-R and ADOS 2 instruments and are completed by a multi-disciplinary team. As an established provider of assessments to the HSE, we also offer private assessments, which are accepted by the HSE, CAMHS, and Department of Education and Science.
Our coordinated approach to care includes Clinical Psychology and full Speech and Language and Occupational Therapy assessment if required.
We provide a range of post-diagnostic support including:
- Therapy – individual and/or group
- Training days for parents and/or staff
- School liaison
- Social skills groups
- Behavioural/Postive Parents programmes
- Advice on procurement of resources
What to Expect When You Come to See Us
The first step is for the Clinical Psychologist to meet with the child’s parents/carers for the ADI-R part of the assessment. This involves taking a full developmental history and discussing parental concerns and the meeting typically lasts 1.5-2 hours.
The next part of the assessment involves the Clinical Psychologist and the Speech and Language Therapist meeting with the child for approximately 1 hour. Depending on the age of the child, the assessment is conducted through a mix of play-based activities and conversation. For younger children, parents generally sit in on the assessment.
If considered appropriate, a home and/or school visit may also be recommended, as might an Occupational Therapy assessment.
Following assessment, a detailed clinical report will be prepared, and your Clinical Psychologist will arrange a feedback meeting to discuss the findings and diagnostic conclusion, and to make therapy recommendations based on the child’s priority areas of need.
